As an orthopaedic surgeon I am specialized in care for children. My special interest is for hip pathology, clubfeet and children suffering from cerebral palsy.
My primary medical study was at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. After finishing my medical training I followed my orthopaedic training in Erasmus MC – Rotterdam and Elisabeth Hospital – Tilburg. Thereafter, I did 1 year of fellowship training in pediatrics at the Maximá Medical Centre in Veldhoven.
In 2018 I started working as a consultant pediatric orthopaedics in the Erasmus MC – Sophia Children’s Hospital.
As a PhD candidate I am involved in research on hip dysplasia during childhood and adolescence. We are studying risk factors for late-onset dysplasia and we are identifying factors to influence late-onset hip dysplasia.
Secondly, I am a member of the nationwide research group initiating a study on the treatment of stable, dysplastic hips in infants (TRAM-study).
As a consultant in an academic hospital I am involved in teaching of medical students and students of technical medicine from TU Delft. Also, I have been invited as a speaker in several congresses to speak about hip pathology and imaging in infants and children
