M.C.(Maarten) Koper, PhD
I studied medicine at the Erasmus Medical University Center Rotterdam, the Netherlands. During my specialist training I started a PhD project on different Metal-on-Metal hip bearings under supervision of prof. J.A.N. Verhaar, dr. P.K. Bos and dr. N.M.C. Mathijssen. In my research, I examined the added value of computer navigation in the positioning of the prosthesis. Additionally, survival rates of various prostheses were assessed, and wear analyses were conducted. Subsequently, the increased cobalt and chromium emissions from these prostheses are also monitored to determine if they have predictive value in terms of survival and the PROMs.
Currently I am working as consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon in the Reinier HAGA Orthopaedic Centre and the Reinier de Graaf Hospital. The last three years I subspecialized in Hip Arthroplasty and Revision surgery, as well as Orthopedic Trauma.
