T. M. (Tom) Piscaer MD PhD
I am an orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist with subspecialty expertise in knee surgery, and I hold a PhD in experimental imaging techniques for the early detection of knee degeneration. My clinical practice focuses on complex knee pathology, including knee dislocations, multi-ligament knee reconstruction, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, and osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the pediatric knee.
I completed international knee fellowships with the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the European Knee Associates (EKA), as well as a dedicated knee fellowship in Utrecht. I completed my orthopedic surgery residency training at Erasmus MC and Reinier de Graaf Hospital.
My research program is centered on pediatric knee pathology, with a specific focus on ACL injuries and OCD. In addition, I conduct translational research in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, integrating advanced imaging and biomechanical modeling. I am a board member of the Dutch Society for Arthroscopy and actively involved in national and international scientific collaborations.
