J.J.M. (Jeroen) Renkens
I am an orthopedic surgeon with a dedicated focus on spinal disorders, having completed a specialized spine fellowship at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht). My clinical practice encompasses both pediatric and adult patients, with a particular interest in spinal deformities, trauma, and oncological conditions.
Alongside my clinical work, I am currently pursuing a PhD focused on the surgical treatment of scoliosis. My research centers around the FIXIT study, which aims to optimize fixation strategies, improve understanding of pulmonary pathology, and evaluate complication profiles associated with scoliosis surgery.
In addition, my research interests include secondary scoliosis and the postoperative management and long-term follow-up of scoliosis patients. I collaborate closely with several institutions, including UMC Utrecht and Avans University of Applied Sciences, to advance both clinical and translational research in this field.
I am an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and AO Spine, reflecting my ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence in spinal care.
