A. (Anne) Flier
After my bachelor Biology (Leiden) and my master Infection and Immunity (Utrecht) I wanted to dive into more fundamental research related to disease modelling with a close connection to genetics. Thus, in 2023’s spring I started with my PhD in the department of Orthopaedics and Sport medicine. The aim of my project is to study how genotype and phenotype affect mechanotransduction in chondrogenic cells. My project is part of the LoaD consortium in which we are investigating how molecular variation influences the loading capacity of articular joints with special focus on knee osteoarthritis. The overall goal of the consortium is to, in the future, be able to advice patients what kind of physical activity they should practice to keep their joints healthy.
